What: Through real-life examples, Myrna Lashley will:
examine how Black individuals navigating psychological concerns may experience dismissal, gaslighting, or misinterpretation of their symptoms—often rooted in systemic and practitioner-level bias; and
discuss how clinicians’ assumptions can influence diagnosis and treatment, particularly when lived experiences of racism are minimized or overlooked.
The event is a collaboration between the McGill University Department of Family Medicine’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Concordia University’s Black Perspectives Office.
