Youth Participant | iCAN Study (Integrative Canadian Neurodiversity Platform [iCAN] - Development Phase) | Montreal, Quebec

Intended for: Youth participants aged 14+

Description of role: iCAN is a project funded by Kids Brain Health Network, and led by researchers who are also part of CHILD-BRIGHT. iCAN is a Canada-wide database of people diagnosed with a neurodevelopmental disability (NDD). To ensure that iCAN can answer research questions that are important to families, we are seeking the input of youth with cerebral palsy & parents of children with an NDD, including cerebral palsy.

Description of the role: Study participants

Who can participate in this study?: Youth with cerebral palsy (ages 14 +)

What can participants expect?

  • Participants will be asked to:

o   Participate in a focus group (meeting with 8-12 people for about 90 minutes)

o   Fill out a demographic form & a brief quality of life questionnaire

o   Provide thoughts on a list of questions compiled by researchers: whether these questions are relevant and should be included in the database.

Engagement length and expected time commitment:

The expected time commitment is of 90 minutes (length of the focus group) 

Compensation:

  • Youth will receive a gift card ($20) for participating

  • Expenses related to transportation or work day compensations to facilitate participation will be reimbursed.

Requirement:

Youth with cerebral palsy (ages 14 +)
