To successfully accomplish our mandate under Canada's Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR), we must demonstrate to the Canadian Institutes of Health Research that patients are involved in all aspects of our research. To do this, we will track patient engagement and classify it according to the below levels:

  • Send us a photo, story, quote, idea, suggestion, comment
  • Write or speak about us (on personal blogs, news item, etc.)
  • Answer a question, poll, survey
  • Attend a focus group (short-term, one-time)
  • Speak at our events or at a research workshop
  • Join a committee or workgroups
  • Be a patient-partner in a research project team
  • Become a mentor
  • Sponsor our events
  • Lead a Knowledge Translation event
  • Lead a training session
  • Lead a research study/project
  • Lead policy research and design
  • Organize an event
  • Train mentors
  • Partner with us on initiatives
  • Create partnerships with organizations
  • Chair a committee or workgroup
  • Be a member of our governance committees
  • Become one of our funding partners
